15 Minutes to the Secrets of Life

water heart My dear Sisters and Brothers,

The secret to life is simple:  be compassionate.  Be compassionate to yourself first, because until you can know and feel compassion intimately, you cannot share it with others fully.  Learn to love yourself.  Fill your heart with love.  Then extend your compassion to everyone around you.  Fill the world with loving compassion.

I have just three things to teach:  simplicity, patience, compassion.  These three are your greatest treasures.  Lao Tzu

Live fully in the moment.  Do not wait until the perfect time to tell someone how much you love them.  Life is too short for waiting, and your world can change in a heartbeat.  Take this moment, today, right now, to tell those in your life how very important they are to you, and how much you love them.

Teach this triple truth to all:  A generous heart, kind speech, and a life of service and compassion are the things which renew humanity.  Buddha

Live with a smile in your heart, and let that smile send a beautiful glow out from within the core of you.  Let your smile transform the world around you.

It is that simple… be compassionate, live in the moment and keep a smile in your heart.

This is my response to the WordPress Daily Prompt:  You have 15 minutes to address the whole world live (on television or radio — choose your format). What would you say?

I obviously wouldn’t need the entire fifteen minutes to deliver my message, so I would fill the television screen with images of compassion in action, and overlay the audio of the message.  I would include images of people known all over the world for their compassion, Mother Teresa, the Dali Lama, Nelson Mandela.  I’d also show the scenes of anonymous people helping their neighbors: Habitat for Humanity building homes, Doctors Without Borders bringing medical aid, and the International Red Cross helping in disaster areas.  Then I would bring the scenes even more local, showing everyday life, with its random acts of kindness and the smiles that ensue.

Love and compassion are necessities, not luxuries.   Without them humanity cannot survive.   The Dali Lama
