Susan Cain: The power of introverts

As a writer, bookworm and definite introvert, I listened with great interest to what Susan Cain had to say in her TED talk, “The Power of Introverts”.  Hooray, someone who understands me!  Please enjoy her talk, whether you’re an introvert, extrovert, or somewhere in between.

  1. Her TED talk is wonderful, and liberating to listen to. My poor introverted kids are being forced to work in groups constantly at school. I don’t know that it really teaches them anything other than group dynamics. Thanks for following friendlyfairytales. You have a cool blog here. Regards, Brenda

  2. The reason our schools are like they are is so that our children can live in the future. I believe that the future is going to be collectivist through the conditioned choice of the people.

  3. I really like this talk. It’s not me, and that’s why I found it so interesting. I work with early years practitioners and it struck me that when children retreat and want to be alone we treat them as though they are struggling, and try and get then back to the group. Cain made me really think about this. Thanks for the post.

  4. As a teacher, I give my students the choice to work with groups or individually. There are some that work so much better on their own, and I want to encourage their creativity. Maybe I recognize it because I am the same way.
