2014 – Year of the Horse

chineseNewYear2014Happy Chinese New Year!  According to the Chinese calendar, this is year 4712, or something like that. China is so ancient that the exact numbering of the years of its history are lost in antiquity.

The new year celebration actually begins on the new moon and continues for two weeks until the full moon.  It’s also called the Spring Festival, and is a time for feasting, celebration, and family reunions.

According to Chinese astrology, I have the Dragon sign and this new year is going to be a great one for me, full of new opportunities.  That sounds like a lot of fun!

I checked today’s forecast for Dragons and it said, “You’ll be seized by a great desire for discovery and a burning passion for learning new things.”  That’s certainly where I am right now, as I’m passionately learning about introverts and gaining a new understand of myself.  Very cool!

Chris also contributes to the new food blog Three’s Cooking, learning to cook from the heart, for the soul.

If you know your animal in Chinese astrology, you can get a yearly overview here.

  1. I’ve just spent hours absorbed in my Chinese horoscope after reading this post – and my little boy’s a Dragon who’s already living his year to the full! Thanks for such an interesting prompt and lovely blog.
