Share Your World – Week 6

share-your-world2Share Your World is a weekly challenge hosted by my spouse, Cee, at her photography blog.  Here are the questions for this week:

Have you watched or plan to watch any of the 2014 Winter Olympics?

Yes, we’re watching them in the evening, thanks to Tivo.  I enjoy watching the winter and summer Olympics.

What is your favorite winter Olympic event? Would you ever want to be an expert in that sport?

Oddly enough, snowboarding, a sport that never existed for most of my lifetime.  Would I want to be an expert?  Yes, because I think it looks like great fun, but at age 61 I don’t think that’s going to happen.  I love the way the kids can move while strapped to those boards.  They come rushing down to the finish and can stop on a dime.  Amazing!

Have you ever met an Olympic Athlete?

Nope.  The closest I can come is that I once knew someone in the original Broadway cast of Chorus Line.  That kind of dancing should count as a sport.

Do you have a favorite athlete? Name sport.

Not really.

What is your favorite exercise or sport? Is there a reason why?

I don’t really have a favorite sport.  I just appreciate anyone doing anything well.  Except for curling, maybe.  I can’t believe that’s a sport.  My favorite way of getting exercise is Qigong, but that goes beyond a form of exercise for me.  It’s something that’s part of all my life.

  1. This is a really stupid question – has the Winter Olympics already started? I haven’t seen it advertised on the tele.

Anyway, I love Ice Hockey, Toboggan, Luge and the Snow Boarding too. Oh, and the Ice Skating which I find is always so beautiful.

I better start searching the tv guide. 🙂

  2. Have you ever seen “River Dance” with Michael Flattery? There’s another type of dance that should be a sport…. Can you imagine the muscles & muscle control needed to do the finer motions of that dance?

  3. Oh I just have to respond to this one. I’m a huuuuuge fan of Figure Skating so of course I watch Olympic Figure Skating. At the Vancouver Winter Olympics there were 17 separate figure skating events and I managed to get tickets for 14 of them! It was amazing to go to the Olympics live! I watched today on TV and saw some of the FS team event a few days ago, but tomorrow we go into the Amazon so that’s the end of watching the Olympics for me 😦 but I have a friend who is recording it all so I’ll get to watch it later. I’ve met several Olympic athletes, all of them figure skaters at the many competitions I’ve been to over the years before we became nomadic. Anyway your blog is wonderfully cheery for a bunch of introverts 🙂 and I just came by to thank you for following our blog. I hope you enjoy the stories of our journey, both inner and outer. Cheers, Alison

  4. I watch a lot of Olympic coverage on TV, hence being so far behind in my reading & commenting! My favorite sport is figure skating. My favorite athlete Shae-Lynn Bourne & Victor Kratz. They were Ice Skaters way ahead of their time. They were simply angels on ice & due to the judging escapades they were never rewarded for their great work! But I like to watch just about everything except hockey – I only watch the gold medal game if Canada is involved.
