OK, Club Introvert members, now it’s time for you to get social. Wait, don’t run away. I promise this will be easy. Painless. Simple. Really. I promise.
As with any good social event, you need an ice-breaker, a little game that allows you to meet someone new. Don’t you just hate those? Yes? Well, this one will be fun.
Here’s what you do:
1. Create a blog posting with your answers to Cee’s Share Your World challenge. (See below for more info about SYW.)
2. Go out to SYW and create a comment that starts with “Club Introvert member” and add a link to your blog.
3. While on SYW, find three CI members who you don’t know yet. (Yes, you might have to go back later. I’ll remind you.)
4. Go home and breathe a sigh of relief.
Now I realize that you might have been too nervous about all of this to pay attention, so I’ll recap. You’re going to a small, quiet party. You’ll introduce yourself to three new people. You’ll go home and be proud of yourself for being so adventurous. Well done!
Share Your World info and link: Share Your World is a weekly challenge hosted by my spouse, Cee, at her photography blog. She started Share Your World years ago when she was running a number of challenges on a photography site similar to WordPress. The majority of photographers are introverts, and they needed a way to get to know each other. You don’t have to be a photographer to participate, though. Grab the questions and give us your answers.
Here are the questions for this week:
Describe yourself in a word that starts with the first letter of your name.
C = compassionate and curious. Yes, two words. I’m an overachiever.
If 100 people your age were chosen at random, how many do you think you’d find leading a more satisfying life than yours?
Precious few. My life is fabulous. I have my soul mate, a day job that sustains us nicely, a rewarding volunteer job that is fulfilling and affirming, a future career I’m in training for now, a new home with a garden we’re planting, two lovely cats and two silly pugs. I live in a charming little town close to a large city if the need for city life ever awakens in me. I have the most fun blog in the world and meet so many charming people. Oh, and I’m learning to cook meals that people really want to eat. How much fun is that!
If you were a tree, would you become a book or furniture? Please describe.
Golly, I think I’d like to be both. If I were a book, I’d like to be a good one so that lots of people would want to hold me in their hands. If I were to be made into furniture, let it be a table where a happy family can meet for meals and laughter.
You are trapped in an elevator, who would you want to be trapped with?
Agatha Christie. I’d want to know how she thought up all those mysteries. Since she’s been dead for a while now, I’d settle for one of her books.
Bonus question: What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?
I remain grateful for meeting so many introverts and sharing this journey of personal self discovery with them. I’ve had some touching notes of thanks this week. I’m amazed by the response to my writing. Thank you, everyone.
I’m looking forward to getting some new trees and shrubs in our garden. Our magnolia and camellia trees are blooming and the weeping cherry is leafing out. Spring is arriving in all of its glory.
