Saturday Stuff: an ELF, and I can can

screenshot_304It’s been a great week here. I hope you’ve had as much fun with this week’s blogs as I have had creating them for you.  It started off with an introvert celebration.  I quit writing about what everyone thinks is wrong with us and started writing about what is wonderful about us.  Stay tuned for more of that tomorrow.

On Monday I did another Share Your World.  I need to revise my answer to the question What type of transportation would you be?  The day after I posted my SYW, I found this.  This is what I would be.  An ELF.  It’s a tricycle with a composite shell for weather protection.  It has a solar panel to charge the battery for an electric motor that can assist you on the hills, and give you lights if you’re riding when it’s dark outside.  The manufacturer, Organic Transit, is hoping to open an additional factory here in Oregon where I live.  Too cool!  It even comes in Wasabi Green, one of my favorite colors.  And it gets about 1800 miles to the gallon.

Tuesday’s revelation was that I don’t like wearing new clothes to the office because people notice and then want to strike up conversations with me.  Small talk, ugh.  I felt pretty silly when those pieces finally fell into place, hence the title “Laughing at Myself“.  A big THANK YOU to those of you who understood that feeling.  It’s nice knowing I’m not alone.

We got off to a fabulous start with the first IBQ (Introverts Blog Quietly) writing challenge.  That was so much fun.  I’m still trying to catch up on everyone’s writing.  I loved reading all of it, and enjoying all the comments that went back and forth.  It’s great writing positive things about what makes introverts special.  The words “create”, “calmness”, “soothing”, “peace” and “bliss” came up often.

We had another entertaining cartoon from INFjoe on Thursday.

I haven’t shared a good TED talk in a while, so here is one to uplift you.  You’ll laugh, and take away a new mantra:  “You can do it, yes, you can can.”

Have a quiet day!

Hi.  I’m Chris.  I’m an introvert.  Look for my ongoing series celebrating introverts (Sunday), writing prompts (Wednesday) and introvert cartoons (Thursday), plus anything else interesting that I find in the meantime.  Come and share with like-minded introverts.  I also contribute to the new food blog Three’s Cooking, learning to cook from the heart, for the soul.

  1. absolutely inspiring TED video – so sad for her injury – but what a story! and was laughing at so many parts – like that they assumed she was Italian…. lol 🙂
nice share – thx and have a good weekend.

  2. This little Elf is the cutest thing in the world! Would that it spread throughout the country pedaled by quiet, creative introverts!

  3. I have never been a member of a club. My personal motto is, and has always been, “I refuse to join any club that would have me as a member.” (attributed to Groucho Marx). IBQ feels a lot like a club, but one I don’t mind belonging to, one whose members respect my quirks, my stubbornness my spontaneity (OK, rare, perhaps, but when I get a mind to do something nobody better say I can’t). Is that last one a universal trait of introverts? I’m not sure. But it’s one of mine, Right now I have an urge to join another club- one I’m sure already has quite a few members even if they don”t realize it. The Donner-Neuner Club, led by two wonderful women who help me (and probably a lot of others) realize my potential with their outlook and their support- both artistically and personally. But I refuse to stand up in front of the room and say “Hi, I’m Emilio. I’m an introvert”. Too much like AA!

    • Wow, I am blown away by this comment, Emilio. Thank you so much. We love sharing with all of our introverted friends (and the well behaved extrovert ones, too *giggle*). I’m so glad we found each other. You brighten my day. Lots of good introvert hugs to you.
