Happiness is Sharing My World – Week 16

ketchikanHere is my contribution to Share Your World for this week.  (Scroll to the bottom for more info on SYW.)

How many places have you lived? You can share the number of physical residences and/or the number of cities.

Too many.  A couple of small towns in Pennsylvania, Alabama, Oklahoma and New Mexico before moving to Denver.  Put down roots there for 30+ years before moving to Oregon.

What type of music relaxes you the most?

Oddly enough, music doesn’t relax me.  I get too involved in it, imagining which instruments are playing, etc.  If I want to relax, I need silence.  I’ll use music to set a mood when I’m working, but other than that I don’t normally play music.  Cee will often have music playing in her office and I can hear it down the hall.  That’s about as much as I need.

If you could instantly become fluent in another language, what would that language be and why?

Mandarin Chinese, definitely.  Because I’m studying Traditional Chinese Medicine and knowing Mandarin would help me appreciate the culture better.

If you could fly or breathe under water what would you prefer?

Fly.  To soar on the wings of eagles….. beautiful

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

Mostly that it is over.  I had to meet with new people and go into the office TWICE!!!!!! Wow, that was tiring, but I made it through nicely, thank you very much.  We had a restful weekend.

I’m looking forward to breaking in my new walking shoes, going to class on Saturday and dreaming about moving to Alaska someday.  We haven’t been able to dream for years, but Cee is healthy enough to allow us to dream again.  It feels so good.  I’m thinking Ketchikan would be nice.  Not too cold, not too hot.  They get a lot more rain than we do here, and what I love most about here is the rain.  I get depressed in July when things dry out and pray for the rain to come again in September.  They have a lot more rain so I’d definitely get my wish.  We average 36″ (915 mm) and they get 153″ (3892 mm), so that would be more.  😀  But it’s okay, I’ve gotten pretty good at dealing with moss growing everywhere.

share-your-world2Share Your World info and link:  Share Your World is a weekly challenge hosted by my spouse, Cee, at her photography blog. She started Share Your World years ago when she was running a number of challenges on a photography site similar to WordPress.  The majority of photographers are introverts, and they needed a way to get to know each other.  You don’t have to be a photographer to participate, though.  Grab the questions and give us your answers.

Hi.  I’m Chris.  I’m an introvert.  Look for my ongoing series celebrating the introvert(Sunday) and introvert cartoons (Thursday), plus anything else interesting that I find in the meantime.  Come and share with like-minded introverts.  I also contribute to the food blog Three’s Cooking, learning to cook from the heart, for the soul.

  1. a rainy day woman ( I think that’s a song)!!! Alaska sounds wonderful. Chinese sounds daunting!! TCM is great. How long is your study? But oh to fly- yes!! I’m grateful we had a few days of sunshine last week. Unlike you, I get a bit melancholy if it rains too much. Looking forward to my sister coming to visit.

  2. To me, dreaming of new places to live is one of the most pleasant past times. It’s great that Cee is well enough that you can dream again. It sounds like Alaska is the perfect place for a rain-loving couple like you!

  3. I feel the same way about music. It doesn’t relax me either. I hear music and I want to get up and dance. How is THAT relaxing? I could hurt myself!
Alaska?. Rain? Ouch! Let the sunshine in! 😉
