Sharing My World – Week 21

blueBalloonHere is my contribution to Share Your World for this week.  (Scroll to the bottom for more info on SYW.)

If you could make a 15 second speech to the entire world, what would you say?

Be true to yourself.  Forgive yourself and others.  Love unconditionally.  Smile.

If you could take a photograph, paint a picture or write a story of any place in the world, what and where would it be?

Alaska, and the picture would show towering mountains reflected in the blue waters of a tranquil bay.  Or maybe a huge blue ice glacier, cracking and calving new icebergs into the ocean.

If you had to spend one weekend alone in a single store but could remove nothing, which store would you pick?

It would have to be a bookstore.  That’s easy, and I pity the poor person who had to come in Monday morning and reshelve all the books I looked at during the weekend.

If you were given a boat or yacht today, what would you name it?  (You an always sell the yacht later)

Finally Free.   And I wouldn’t sell it.  I start at Portland and sail it out the Columbia River to the Pacific Ocean, then head north.  I’d stop in Puget Sound to spend a little time playing around in Seattle.  Then it would be north again to the San Juan Islands, on to British Columbia in Canada, with stops in Victoria and Vancouver.  After that it would be on to Alaska and the Inside Passage, with stops at Ketchikan and Sitka.

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

I am grateful for the hot air balloon I spotted out my office window this morning.  That’s the picture you see.  It was taken with a 600x zoom and it looks a little grainy because of it.  Without my zoom lens, it looked like a little black dot floating still in the sky miles away from me.  But when I could zoom in on it, it turned out to be quite pretty, with a white star on a blue field surrounded by other shades of blue.

Going up in a hot air balloon is on my list of things I’m looking forward to doing.  I can only imagine what it will be like, seeing the earth from that perspective, floating along in silence.  I’m smiling right now, can you tell?

I am grateful that my mother is finally free of this life.  She was 84 when she died last Thursday.  Her life was a difficult one.  She had the most tortured and unhappy soul I have ever met.  I hope that she has finally found some answers to all the things that troubled her in this life.   I hope she found love and comfort, some peace that she didn’t seem to experience when she was here.

share-your-world2Share Your World info and link:  Share Your World is a weekly challenge hosted by my spouse, Cee, at her photography blog. She started Share Your World years ago when she was running a number of challenges on a photography site similar to WordPress.  The majority of photographers are introverts, and they needed a way to get to know each other.  You don’t have to be a photographer to participate, though.  Grab the questions and give us your answers.

Hi.  I’m Chris.  I’m an introvert.  All of my postings tend to reflect my introvert world in some way or another.  Join me and like minded introverts for a special slant on the world.

  2. This was really interesting. I love all of the explanations you provided for each answer. The bit about your mother was really sad, I hope she’s happy now, too. It sounds like you are living your life in a different way. The hot air balloon sounds terrifying, but I hope you get to do it. I’m totally with you on the bookstore. It would be nice if there was a coffee shop attached to it. 🙂

  5. Some great answers Chris. I am with you on the book store!
I am sorry for your loss as well but know the strange hope that comes with the passing of a loved one who suffers great pain.
