Sharing My World – Week 49

Halsam-American-BricksHere is my contribution to Share Your World for this week.  (Scroll to the bottom for more info on SYW.)

What is your preferred hot drink: coffee, tea, water, hot chocolate, or other?

Hot water.  I’ve always been a fan of plain old water.  You can’t beat it.  In the last couple of years I’ve discovered the health benefits of drinking it hot, and that has become my favorite drink.  And pretty much my only drink.

What was your favorite toy as a child  . . .  and now?

American Bricks.  They were popular in the 1950s and I loved them.  You could even open the doors and windows.  They were popular before Legos.  They did interlock, but not tightly, and they were brittle.  If you stepped on one you’d have lots of little red bits of plastic.  My other favorite toys were my microscope and printing press, but those came later.  I always wanted an erector set, but little girls weren’t supposed to play with such things.  I’m guessing the American Bricks were probably bought for my brother.

Candy factories of the entire world have become one and will now be making only one kind of candy. Which kind, if you were calling the shots?

Boyer’s Butterscotch Smoothie – a peanut butter cup with real peanut chunks, wrapped in a hard butterscotch shell.  smoothieThey are still made by a candy company in Altoona, PA.  I grew up with Smoothies and Mallo Cups, and used to collect my “play money”, a coin printed on cardboard that was underneath every piece of candy.  You would save them up and trade them in for merchandise.  Great fun!

Every now and then, when I’m feeling nostalgic, I order some on line.  I can’t do it often, though, because I have no will power when it comes to Smoothies.  I will eat a whole box on them in one sitting.

Would you want $100,000 right now or $120,000 in a year (tax Free)?

I can wait for the extra $20,000.

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

I am grateful to be seeing the last of this blasted cold that I’ve had.  I’ve been congested enough to not be able to do anything but still feeling well enough to be bored with being sick.  Nasty!

What am I looking forward to?  Life.  The weather has been nice.  I’ve enjoyed the time I have been spending outside.

Many blessings to you and your loved ones.  I hope this holiday season is a happy one for you.

Share Your World info and link:  Share Your World is a weekly challenge hosted by my spouse, Cee, at her photography blog. She started Share Your World years ago when she was running a number of challenges on a photography site similar to WordPress.  The majority of photographers are introverts, and they needed a way to get to know each other.  You don’t have to be a photographer to participate, though.  Grab the questions and give us your answers.

Hi.  I’m Chris.  I’m an introvert.  All of my postings tend to reflect my introvert world in some way or another.  Join me and like minded introverts for a special slant on the world.

  1. American bricks- boy that brings me back. I vaguely remember them – I think because I was fascinated with the real opening windows. Not sure if my brother had them or a cousin or if it was a toy at my grandmas. Thanks for the walk down memory lane!
