Happy Boxing Day!

Happy Boxing Day!

We don’t know anything about the holiday here in America.  That’s a shame because it sounds like a fun day.

This is what Boxing Day would look like in our house.  (No, these aren’t our cats.  I just liked the graphic.)

Here’s my Charlie in a box.  We quit buying expensive cat beds from Amazon in favor of the Amazon boxes themselves.  Not as decorous, but the cats prefer them and I like re-purposing old boxes.

Freddie isn’t as much of a box lover as his brother, but he has his moments.

Sometimes the box holds a dog and a cat.

So there you have it, the celebration of Boxing Day in our American household.

Happy Boxing Day to all of you, however you celebrate it.

  1. Here is a link to tell you something of the origins of Boxing Day in Great Britain:

We celebrate Boxing Day in Australia too, and it is a national holiday.
In Sydney today, the 70th Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race began – as the race does every year.
In Melbourne, there in always the start of a cricket Test match – these run for 5 days – between Australia and another cricketing nation. It was always England, but this year’s match is against the Indian cricket team.
Another tradition is the Boxing Day sales – a bit like your Black Friday, but not as big or as ‘energetic’.
I like your interpretation of Boxing Day, Chris. 🙂 Have a good one!
