Sharing My World – Week 1

foggyHere is my contribution to Share Your World for this week.  (Scroll to the bottom for more info on SYW.)

How do you get rid of pesky phone calls from telemarketers?

I put us on a “no call” list so we don’t get that many.  The few that we do, I just tell them to take us off their list.

What are you a “natural” at doing?

Listening to people.  I can walk into some place small, like a convenience store and come out knowing all about the cashier and her family.  People like to tell me their life stories.  I must come across as empathetic and safe, and I think that’s a good trait to have.

How often do you get a haircut?

As seldom as possible.  It ranks right under going to the dentist (no offense to dentists or hairdressers).  Small talk makes me cringe.  Since I’m not a girly-girl, I always feel out of place.  But my hair is baby fine and splits easily, so I need to keep it cut to be manageable.  I’d give anything for thick, lush hair.

What’s the first thing that comes to mind when you hear the word “fun”?

Yikes, I’m stuck in the winter doldrums.  Nothing sounds like fun right now.  This is our second day of no sun.  We’ve been fogged in all day yesterday and all day today.  It’s supposed to lift by noon tomorrow, and I hope that’s accurate.  I had trouble seeing the house across the street today.

I do love the fog.  It can be so mystical and beautiful.  But these last two days don’t fit under that category.  Still, it’s better weather than my co-workers in the rest of the country are having.  I’ll take fog over zero degrees any day.  We lived through a lot of snow storms and blizzards when we lived in Denver, including this one in 1996.  I don’t know where Cee found this old photo of me in the parking lot of our condo.  I don’t miss that kind of weather at all.

Do I get a prize for going way off topic?

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

I am grateful for fog, warm weather and none of that white stuff on the ground.   I’m looking forward to the sun coming out and seeing the green grass and trees again.

Share Your World info and link:  Share Your World is a weekly challenge hosted by my spouse, Cee, at her photography blog. She started Share Your World years ago when she was running a number of challenges on a photography site similar to WordPress.  The majority of photographers are introverts, and they needed a way to get to know each other.  You don’t have to be a photographer to participate, though.  Grab the questions and give us your answers.

Hi.  I’m Chris.  I’m an introvert.  All of my postings tend to reflect my introvert world in some way or another.  Join me and like minded introverts for a special slant on the world.

  1. We got all excited on the day of New Year’s Eve when the forecast was 1 to 3 inches of snow. It did not happen. It stayed cold for about a week, then started a climb in temperature. And today it was 69 degrees. Want to switch places? 🙂

  2. That is some snowfall–I’d have moved away from there, too! We’ve had some fog this week, and now it is downright cold. Still no snow, though hubby said he saw some flurries today.

  3. I don’t know… I used to live in the Springs and didn’t mind the snow because it usually melted within a couple of days. I also used to live in the Sacramento area and hated driving in the tule fog. While both are awful to live in and try to get around, photographically they are both great.

  4. in a small store or in the tram or stand in a queue, I am also ” attract ” people to have small chat & ever rheir life story .. it’s funny & ppl trust me as well 🙂 sharing is caring i would say x
