5 Photos, 5 Stories (Day Four): Furry Mom and Baby

It’s Day Four of the 5 Photos, 5 Stories Challenge, and I’d like to introduce you to a mother and baby alpaca.  There are a number of alpaca ranches in the area.  Every October at our fair grounds, Cee and I love to go to the Flock and Fiber show when local people display and sell their wool for spinning, yarn for weaving or knitting and their animals (alpacas, sheep, goats and rabbits raised for their fleece).  They have spinning and shearing competitions.  Yes, we live in the country!

Out of all the animals, though, alpacas are my favorites.  They are incredibly curious.  They’re gentle and trusting, as long as you don’t try to pet them immediately.  Stand with your hands behind your back, and they’ll come right up and nuzzle you.  Cee took this shot of me getting up close and personal with this friendly fellow, and it’s still my favorite photo of me.121013 memory (5)

The rules of Five Photos, Five Stories Challenge require you to post a photo each day for five consecutive days and attach a story to the photo (It can be fiction or non-fiction, a poem or simply a short paragraph) and then nominate another blogger to carry on this challenge. Accepting the challenge is entirely up to the person nominated, it is not a command.

Read Day One, Tiger In My Tank.

Read Day Two, Mending Broken Hearts.

Read Day Three, Ocean Vista

I am nominating Jeann MacPherson of Lost In The Bermuda Triangle to do the challenge next.  Please visit her blog.

Enjoy!

  1. There’s something so appealing about alpacas. My husband and I visited an alpaca farm while we were in Maine and nearly got roped into raising some of our own. It was a narrow escape. What were we thinking??? We can barely manage our dog and cat!
