Share Your World – 7 February 2017

Here is my contribution to Cee’s Share Your World:

Regarding your fridge, is it organized or a mess inside?

Our fridge is an organized mess.  We have certain places for regular items and everything else has to find a place to live.  I wish it had better lighting so we didn’t lose things in it.  Or maybe I should celebrate the poor lighting that allows science projects to flourish.  I think I even saw a few missing socks in the back on the middle shelf, and now you know where socks go when they escape from the dryer.

Do you prefer your food separated or mixed together?

Casseroles and stews are my favorite foods in the world.  Give me a good shepherd’s pie any day, or a thick chowder, and I’m in heaven.

By the way, Cee, the purist to whom I am married, would love a set of the dishes she shows  in this week’s SYW.  She saw them while googling for something to use for the blog.  She hates, hates, hates to have any sauce, juice or food touch any other bit.  I’ll have to go on a shopping expedition.  If you know where I can find them, please let me know.

Do you prefer reading coffee table books (picture), biographies, fiction, non-fiction, educational?

I prefer history, biographies, works on religions of the world and non-fiction.  I read cozy mysteries for an escape when I need one.  Right now I’m reading:

  • “Where the Buck Stops” by Harry Truman
  • “Journal of a Solitude” by May Sarton
  • “Strangers in Their Own Land: Anger and Mourning on the American Right” by Arlie Russell Hochschild
  • “No god but God: The Origins, Evolution, and Future of Islam” by Reza Aslan
  • And I start every morning by reading a chapter in the “Tao Te Ching” in five different translations.

Yep, I’m great fun at parties!

Close your eyes. Listen to your body. What part of your body is seeking attention? What is it telling you?

My right knee and that’s because I’m throwing my weight off my left foot that has a nasty plantar wart I keep meaning to do something about.  Well, you asked!

Optional Bonus question: What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

I am grateful that we didn’t get the ice storm that was predicted.  I’m grateful for advice and words of comfort from people I respect as I pull myself out of the depression caused by American politics.  I’m grateful that I do live in this country, despite the mess it’s in right now.

I’m looking forward to taking some time to catch up with Cee.  We’ve both been busy lately.  I’m actually looking forward to doing some cleaning.

That minion at the top of this post is also part of my morning practice inspiration board.  I have to remember not to take myself too seriously, and a morning giggle is a great way to do that.
